To receive the encoded signals, decode them and show you a TV program of your choice, there are equipments to be installed at your home.  These Satellite Systems with regard to TV viewing can be classified as follows:

Satellite TV Antenna: This is the dish type apparatus perched on every house top – urban, suburban and rural areas alike – focused to the sky in a certain angle.  This dish attracts the signals from the air in large volumes, when positioned rightly. Without this dish it will be impossible to view a Satellite TV at home in your TV screen, although the next generation has come to use your computer to get all Satellite TV channels through the Internet. There are thousands of types and brands of Dish Satellite TV antenna.
Satellite TV Decoder: This is a small box like equipment connected to the Dish Antenna which decodes the transmitted signals focused and attracted by the Dish Antenna. These decoded signals are sent to the Satellite TV receiver to be displayed in the TV screen.

Satellite TV Receiver: This is otherwise known as “Set-off Box”, a sleek box with digital display and controls to receive and monitor the video and audio signals routed through the Dish Antenna and the Decoder in digital mode.  Hundreds of designs and models as also sizes are marketed for the selection of end users for installation at the time of installing the Satellite TV equipments.

There are also other accessories such as TV Tuner Card to connect the PC with the computer screen, if you so desire to view Satellite TV through Internet access on your PC.  All of these equipments are commonly known as Satellite Systems, so far as the entertainment sector is concerned.
